Hummus at home. It’s easier than you think.

You can buy all of our delicious hummus flavors at local markets like Whole Foods and YES Organic Market, and you can enjoy our traditional and roasted red pepper hummus flavors atop your braised lamb bowl or chicken pita. But we couldn’t resist trying out an at-home version.

Homemade Hummus (Serves 2-4)

1 can chickpeas, drained with liquid reserved
4 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
a few dashes of hot sauce

Mince garlic in your food processor. Then add remaining ingredients, plus 2 tablespoons of your reserved chickpea liquid. Process until the hummus has reached the consistency you like and season to taste.

#ProTip: To achieve really smooth, creamy hummus, you can shell the chickpeas before putting them in the food processor. If you’re working with canned chickpeas, this is pretty easy – simply go through the chickpeas and pinch each one to slide the outer shell off and discard.
