One of our favorite parts about calling the District our home isn’t the monuments or the museums or the Mall. What we love most are some of the small-scale makers creating best-in-the-biz products that we get to enjoy. Of course, one of those makers that’s actually not so small-scale these days is DC Brau.

We went to visit DC Brau’s facilities recently and got a behind-the-scenes look at everything that makes this DC-born-and-bred brewery so amazing.

They use wind and solar power as much as possible, recycle wherever they’re able, and even donate the leftover spent grain to local DC businesses who make bread for the underprivileged.

They’re not so small-scale these days. In fact, they’re on track to produce 16,000 barrels of beer in 2015.

Lucky for you, at least a small chunk of those barrels is headed to your local Cava Grill. Just like we work with our friends Gordy’s Pickle Jar, Whisked!, and Runningbyrd Tea to bring you the best our city has to offer, we’re bringing you some of the best beer in DC, too.
