There’s a secret garden nestled on a quiet street in Shaw, and we NEED you to know about it.

Last week, our friends at City Blossoms – one of the thriving community organizations we work with and support – invited us to stop by their community garden on Marion Street NW in Shaw. We got there before open gardening time kicked off – and just in time to help with the green bean harvest. With help from City Blossoms chef extraordinaire Lola, we picked fresh green beans, washed them, cut them, and sautéed them up in a tasty variation on one of our favorite seasoning flavor combos: SPOOL.

Our new friends sautéed the beans with Salt, Pepper, Olive Oil, Oregano, and Lemon – a combination that had everyone enthusiastically enjoying their greens.

We had so much fun helping some youngsters as they learned more about harvesting, cooking, and enjoying fresh, seasonal eats – and we highly recommend Marion Street’s open gardening times if you’re craving an escape from the city bustle.

Stay tuned for more of our favorite pics from the day later this week.
